As an interior designer, I am aware that trends reflect our changing needs and desires as a society. Trends emerge when new materials, technologies, or cultural shifts influence our ideas about what makes a beautiful and functional space.
You might be surprised to hear this, but as a person, I actually don’t like following trends. It sounds almost ironic, as I am a big fan of new technologies and advancements. However, trends represent some external authority to me, instead of following my own instincts. To me, listening to myself is the top priority.
I believe that trends can be an excellent source of inspiration, but we should not blindly follow them. Just because something is popular doesn’t mean it’s suitable for your space. I am convinced that it is good for your space to reflect your personal taste and lifestyle, that is, you. Following yourself gives you more confidence in your decisions and strengthens your personal power.
Therefore, as a designer, I strongly emphasize biophilic design. This approach focuses on creating spaces that connect people with nature. This is not a trend – it is a philosophy that aligns with my values and my personal connection to the natural world. Incorporating natural materials, plants, and other outdoor elements into interior design has been proven to have many benefits, from improving air quality to reducing stress and anxiety. Although biophilic design may be currently in vogue, I believe it will stay – in some form or other. Whether we admit it or not, we are all part of nature and are somehow close to it.
So, whether you are a fan of the latest design trends or prefer a more classic approach, the most important thing is to create a space that feels authentic to you. And if you are looking for inspiration, consider exploring biophilic design as a way to connect with nature and create a truly beautiful and functional space.
